Established at the end of 2016, our thriving and dedicated membership has spent the last year building strong team foundations.  We now have an opening for an inspiring and enthusiastic Head of Competitive Coach to help us on our journey to be one of the top clubs in the UK.

About the role

You’ll join forces with our skater-run Training Committee (TC), and your main responsibilities will be:

  • Working with TC to develop training plans in line with our club goals and vision
  • Working collaboratively with captains to support team development, including helping with player assessments i.e. identifying individual and team level strengths and opportunities
  • Attending and coaching at least one competitive (post mins) session per week (Tue/Thu/Sun)
  • Providing encouragement, support and constructive feedback to individual athletes and teams
  • Keeping up to date with the sport of roller derby to feed in new strategies and play, ensuring our gameplay remains competitive

About you

  • Experienced in roller derby and roller skating, with previous coaching experience
  • Able to work with a team to plan the goals and focus for each training quarter
  • Confident in delivering training plans, able to break down a skill to bitesize chunks for athletes at all levels to learn and understand
  • Able to adapt your coaching style to the needs of different learners

About Leeds Roller Derby

We are a passionate and ambitious bunch, with big goals for our established A and B Teams.  Our current competitive focus is for our A Team to rise up through the WFTDA rankings, and to get our B Team into British Champs, whilst supporting each member to be the best we can be.  

We are a WFTDA Class A Member –  our A Team is currently ranked #187 in the world, #54 in Europe.  Our B Team is #151 in Europe.
